13 Tips to Cultivate Self-Love and Live a More Fulfilling Life

Ah self-love! Do those words make you feel slightly uncomfortable and unsure if you truly do love yourself? If so, then you are not alone.
 
Self-love is nothing to feel guilty about or feel uncomfortable about . . . it’s a beautiful thing, and it’s crucial for experiencing true happiness in this life. Many of us are just going through the motions of life and doing what is expected of us or searching for someone to love us and think that will make everything alright.
 
That’s all fine and dandy but come on and live a little!
 
Don’t wait for someone or something to make you happy! Do something that sets your soul on fire and that makes you feel completely alive and in the present moment. This will raise your vibrational frequency, and people are drawn to high positive vibrations.
 

When you resonate true happiness and self-love, it’s visible from a mile away.

 
Self-love is a practice and it does require a bit of soul searching and acceptance, but give it time and it will lead to abundance you’ve never imagined. It will also naturally transfer over to your other relationships and strengthen your ability to love others.
 

Here are 13 tips to cultivate self-love:

 

1. Accept yourself exactly as you are

Accept every part of you . . . your funny, silly, crazy, lazy, wild, loving, generous parts that make you you. Learn to love yourself no matter what and you’ll begin to see how beautiful and unique you truly are.
 

2. Nourish your body

Your body is a temple. Treat it as such, and provide it with nourishment from organic, nutrient-rich whole foods.
 

3. Connect with nature

Nature holds deep healing energy. By spending time reconnecting with Mother Earth, we can’t help but recognize the astounding beauty within all the intricacies of nature. We can then learn to recognize them within ourselves.

4. Practice yoga

Yoga is such a nourishing practice for your body, mind and soul. It’s one of the best ways to show gratitude and love to yourself.
 

5. Create your own affirmations or mantras

Practice affirmations or mantras in the mirror regularly! One example is: “I love myself unconditionally. I am beautiful. I am kind. I am smart. I am powerful. I AM love.” The eyes are the windows of the soul, so speak to yourself.

6. Journey inward

Meditate to cleanse your mind of any “junk thoughts” or negative feelings you may have. This will create space to allow your mind to think positive, loving thoughts about yourself.

7. Book a therapeutic session

Treat yourself to massage, acupuncture, reiki or chakra balancing, etc. This will help reset your energetic pathways to allow the free flow of Qi (or Chi, which is your lifeforce energy) so you can feel your best.
 

8. Find your tribe

Spend time with people that you love and that love and appreciate you as well. This will help reinforce how truly awesome and loved you are.
 

 

9. Rock a ‘no makeup’ day

For ladies, go out in public without makeup. For some of you, this is a normal occurrence if you don’t wear makeup anyway. For those that are used to wearing makeup every day, this may be a challenge. There is nothing wrong with wearing makeup, but it’s nice to go out without any sometimes. It makes you feel kind of vulnerable in an empowering way by embracing every freckle, wrinkle and blemish you may have. Embrace your natural beauty and let it shine!
 

10. Don’t wait for love

Create a life as if you’ve got all you’ve ever wanted right here right now. Take that trip you’ve been dreaming of or go out to that fancy restaurant you’ve been dying to try. Don’t wait on prince charming or princess lover girl – your sweet self IS enough!
 

11. Smile!

Even a forced smile changes the chemistry of your brain and releases feel-good neurotransmitters such as dopamine, endorphins and serotonin. This creates happy thoughts and feelings. The more you make smiling a habit, the more it will come naturally and genuinely. You’re probably smiling right now. Warning, it’s contagious!
 

12. Dream big

Because why not . . . you are capable of miraculous things. And taking the time to dream those dreams helps make them more of a reality in your life.
 

13. Don’t forget to have fun

Do things that make you smile, laugh, dance, act silly, sing . . . all of it! This puts you in touch with your inner child that is carefree and happy as can be. You deserve to feel that way!

By implementing all or even some of these 13 tips into your life, you will begin to truly see positive change and develop a deep-rooted sense of self-love. Have fun with it and let love flourish in all aspects of your life by harnessing the most important love of all, self-love! Love. Embrace. Accept. Thrive.
