5 Yoga Festivals to Attend on the East Coast

As the last few weeks of summer come to a close and we say goodbye to the intense East Coast heat, cookouts and trips to the shore, we welcome all the fun experiences that Fall brings us – pumpkin picking, street fairs and festivals. Fall is the time for yoga festivals, and there are many upcoming yoga festivals for you to enjoy.

Whether these yoga festivals are in your own backyard or a bit of a drive away, these 5 yoga festivals are worth the trip and offer a little something for everyone.

Hamptons Yoga Fest

(Sept. 18-20 in Hampton, NY)

The inaugural Hampton Yoga Fest will be a wonderful 3-day experience for the new and experienced yogi alike. If you are new to yoga, this will be a great experience to try different yoga styles to help you decide which is right for your goals and needs. For the experienced yogi, this fest will allow you to practice your favorite styles but also dabble in a diverse range of styles. Also, if you are interested in the healing arts, a healing village will be set up with practitioners from modern and ancient modalities, including massage, aromatherapy, reiki, acupuncture, shamanic healings, and cranial sacral therapy.

Taking place in the beautiful Hamptons in Long Island, NY, the fest will create a community among the attendees, all unified in the celebration of their yoga practices. The Hampton Yoga Fest will have workshops including Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Essential Oils, Tantra Yoga, as well as dozens of other yoga sessions and clinics in the classrooms or outside in the beautiful natural surroundings. During your down time, you can enjoy live kirtan, music from around the world, and organic foods from local vendors.

Wanderlust 108

(Sept. 13 in Brooklyn, NY; Sept. 20 in Washington, DC; Oct. 4 in Atlanta, GA; Oct. 17 in Miami, FL)

Wanderlust 108 is taking the US by storm this year with yoga festivals taking place in major cities from coast to coast. During the next few months, you can attend this festival up and down the East Coast, so you can see what Wanderlust is all about no matter where you live. Wanderlust 108 is not your typical yoga festival. It is a triathlon for athletic yogis that will push your mind and body limits. Don’t worry though – it is a mindful triathlon that combines three events (running, yoga, and meditation) into one exciting and enlightening day.

The first part is an untimed 5k run that will leave you feeling accomplished for completing the challenge. Next up is a 90-minute outdoor yoga class led by two experienced yoga teachers. The final leg is an hour-long guided meditation to seal the events of the day in a lasting sense of peace. In the end, your sense of competition is replaced with a community feeling that focuses on inner peace and connection rather than pride and power. In your down time, you can enjoy great food, live music, lawn activities such as hoola hooping and AcroYoga, or experience the many vendor booths.

LEAF Festival

(October 15-18 in Black Mountain, North Carolina)

LEAF Festival, a program of LEAF Community Arts, is a dynamic bi-annual experience (May & October) seeking to connect cultures and create community through music and arts. In its 20th year, LEAF stays true to its roots as a family-friendly event for people from all backgrounds and walks of life. No matter your art or craft – culinary, poetry, music, performances, entertainment, handcrafts – LEAF has a place for you.

Healing Arts plays such a beautiful role in the experience of LEAF. Take the time to nurture and take care of yourself, learn new skills and still enjoy the many festivities that the yoga festival has to offer. Hundreds of folks stop by the Healing Arts to enjoy a yoga class, take time for meditation, go on a plant walk, enjoy a massage, sit with a Shaman healer, gain knowledge about Astrology, take a hula hooping class, or learn how to make Kombucha. The possibilities are endless!

Yoga Jam

(Sept. 4-6 in Floyd, VA)

Yoga Jam is a high-vibrational yoga festival that seeks to connect like-minded individuals. This yoga festival promises a fun vibe that combines your love for live music with your passion for yoga.

You can become part of the community with weekend-long camping (or bring the RV) along a babbling creek near flat, grassy meadows, or you can play it safe and stay at a nearby hotel. Yoga workshops will take place in Blissland inside of yoga-inspired tents, with names including Brahma Nirvana, Buddha Moon, Shiva Love, and Ganesha. Meanwhile, you can enjoy an excellent lineup of music that will take place at the aptly-named Jamland, which features a Boogy Down Dance Hall and a Groove Shack.

Evolvefest

(Sept. 4-9 in Wind Gap, PA)

The Evolvefest is a transformational cultural gathering that celebrates yoga, art, culture, music and natural surroundings. Honor your inner guru and jumpstart your conscious awakening during this 4-day festival. Explore the various educational workshops, yoga intensives, themed campsites, and more than 100 live musical performances. Discover new friendships and find inspiration in a community of like-minded individuals that are encouraged to create, share wisdom, and thrive.

Experience nature with onsite camping that promotes “no trace” left behind, recycling and respect amongst attendees. Stay for a few days and make it a vacation that has a home-away-from-home vibe.
