3 Ways We Can Help Create Healthier Ecosystems This World Environment Day (And Always)

Do you believe we are the generation that can restore our planet? Do you believe we are the generation to restore peace and create healthier ecosystems on Earth?

Yes, you are not alone! We have a deep desire to make our Earth’s ecosystems healthier again because we grew up knowing how crucial it is.

We have seen the effects global warming and climate change have on our direct and indirect environments, on our weather and on our life quality. We believe we can only be healthy if our planet is, too.

Nature is resilient. This means that what is degraded now doesn’t need to be forever.

And we are ready to take action!

World Environment Day: Our Planet’s Ecosystems Need Our Help

Every June 5th, we celebrate World Environment Day. This year, let’s make peace with nature, and inspire change to create healthier ecosystems. Because nature is our most precious teacher and our biggest source of inspiration.

So instead of trying to control it, how could we learn from it and grow with it?

By bringing damaged ecosystems back to life. Nature is resilient. This means that what is degraded now doesn’t need to be forever.

Here Are 3 Ways to Create Healthier Ecosystems:

Looking for ideas to help? Here are three ways we can make our ecosystems healthier again:

1. Plant Trees

Fighting deforestation and helping replant trees is a major component in building healthier ecosystems. Planting tress helps keep our air clean, absorb harmful carbon, filter our water, reduce the risk of mega-fires and other natural catastrophes, but also protect biodiversity and habitats of many living beings.

Non-profit organizations such as One Tree Planted make it simple for anyone to donate money that will go directly towards reforestation projects.

This is a great meaningful gift idea that brings awareness to the importance of trees and reforestation.

Did you know that YA Classes by YouAligned plants a food-producing tree for every class our members complete? So far, we’ve planted over 200,000 trees with our partner NPO Trees for the Future! You can learn more here.

2. Join or Organize a Clean-Up

Cleaning up our beaches, our forests, and riverbanks… wherever you are, you can take action today in your own neighborhood and help foster healthier ecosystems.

Without being properly managed, trash can release toxins into the environment. Removing trash from the environment, disposing of it correctly, and recycling what is possible is crucial for our health and nature’s health.

If you live by the beach, we recommend you to check out the Surfrider Foundation, an organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans and beaches.

You can also research local organizations close to you and if you cannot find anything, what about starting your own?

3. Start a Compost

If you are looking for an effective way to reduce your waste, then composting is your ideal solution. Whether you have a big backyard, a small patio, or no outdoor space at all, you can start your own compost at home.

Composting will also help you to better understand what is happening with your trash.

Seeing organic waste turn into soil fertilizer in days versus single-use plastic taking hundreds of years to decompose is quite an eye-opening experience and will make you reconsider every purchase you make.

The need for compostable products is increasing. SellSage is one such eco-friendly company that provides compostable tableware made of naturally fallen palm leaves.

Whether you have a big backyard, a small patio, or no outdoor space at all, you can start your own compost at home.

By switching from single-use plastic to compostable products and by composting all your organic waste you are participating in the regeneration of soil health and thus the regeneration of a healthier ecosystem.
