5 Unusual Things That Happen When You Go Through a Spiritual Awakening

A spiritual awakening is a shift in consciousness. It is a release of lower-vibrating energy to make room for new, higher-vibrating energies.

Going through a spiritual awakening feels like you are suddenly discovering who you really are as a spiritual being, creating the path to your life’s purpose, and waking up to the world around you.

A spiritual awakening is not a one-time thing but rather an initiation to a new pathway through life.

Many people experience a spiritual awakening during a dark time in their lives or after the occurrence of a traumatic event.

However, this is not the case for everyone. Many people experience spiritual awakenings simply by discovering a truth about themselves or developing an interest in all things spiritual.

Here Are 5 Things That Happen When You Go Through a Spiritual Awakening:

1. You Reduce Clutter

When you go through a spiritual awakening you suddenly don’t need as much stuff as you thought you did. The urge to purge – both physical and emotional – is strong. All of the clutter in your life takes up physical and energetic space that you need for your spiritual awakening and the energetic shifts that are happening within.

Take a day to clear the clutter from your life as best you can – clean out your closets and cupboards, journal your thoughts and intentions, and burn some sage to release negative thoughts and emotions that are holding you back.

2. You Develop an Insatiable Thirst for Knowledge

When you begin a spiritual awakening, you want to know all the things, such as your purpose, how to connect to your spiritual self, who your spirit guides are, how the universe works, and more.

Remember to practice what you have learned so that you can fully understand and engage in this spiritual learning curve.

You might find yourself reading books about psychology, spirituality, self-help, universal intelligence, intuition, or anything of the like. Developing this thirst for knowledge means that you are humble, open-minded, and curious – qualities needed for spiritual progress.

However, in your quest, you will reach a point where no more knowledge can be absorbed until it is put into practice. Remember to practice what you have learned so that you can fully understand and engage in this spiritual learning curve.

3. Your Intuition Heightens

When going through a spiritual awakening, you might notice nudges or tingling sensations throughout your mind and body. This is your Higher Entity (God, the Universe, Spirit Guides, etc.) trying to tell you something.

Pay attention! When you feel these sensations, stop for a moment and take notice of your surroundings – what is your intuition trying to tell you?

It also becomes easier for you to see the motives behind the actions of others and you can “get a feel” for someone in a short amount of time. You will be able to tell if this is a person you want in your life or who will be toxic to your spiritual awakening and spiritual self.

You might also find yourself doing things or diving into things you never thought you would because “it feels right.” For example, I dove head-first into learning everything I could about Reiki, even obtaining Reiki certification – without ever having a Reiki session before!

Listen to your intuition. Trust that your Spiritual Self and your Spirit Guides are taking you on the right path.

4. You Need More Sleep

This may seem strange but, when you go through a spiritual awakening, your body and mind need a lot more rest. All of the work you are doing – physically, emotionally, and spiritually – is exhausting.

Releasing suppressed emotions, releases hormones such as cortisol that induce stress, making us more relaxed and encouraging the release of hormones such as serotonin and dopamine, making us feel happier. This reduction and release of hormones can make us feel overly tired.

You might find yourself wanting to go to bed earlier or waking up later than usual. Let it happen. Don’t beat yourself up for sleeping in late or going to bed at 9pm on a Friday night. Your life is being filled with new energies and it needs your help to recharge and rejuvenate.

5. You Feel Lighter

It’s almost as if … I’m walking on sunshine. Whooa! I’m walking on sunshine. Whooa! I’m walking on sunshine. Whooa! And don’t it feel good? Hey!

Admit it, you danced to that! And for good reason.

You no longer have time for drama, gossip, or people who drag you down. You have no time for small talk and desire only meaningful conversations. You begin to crave alone time, peace and quiet, and spending time in nature. You might even find that your preferences in food, books, movies, and music changes!

All of this makes you feel lighter because you are no longer being dragged down by the monotony of “acceptable social interaction” and external validation. You appreciate and are incredibly grateful for every single thing in your life, no matter how small.

Your happiness comes from within and you feel compelled to share your positivity with the world. It really does feel like you’re walking on sunshine!

Your Spiritual Awakening Is Just the Beginning

A spiritual awakening is an exciting time that promises a life of fulfillment. You’ll rely less and less on external or material things for happiness. Your happiness comes from within – some people go through their entire lives without ever exploring such possibilities!

Remember that a spiritual awakening is not a one-time thing but rather an initiation to a new pathway through life. It will open your mind and heart to a new journey; a journey that is uniquely yours.

Navigate it and appreciate every decadent moment, let the flow of experiences guide you, and continue to trust that your intuition will only get stronger.
