Boost Your Self Esteem With These 7 Simple Exercises

The most important relationship you will ever have is your relationship with yourself. When your relationship with yourself is out of whack, other relationships can feel out of whack too. What if, sometimes, you don’t see the wonderful, rockstar human that you are? When low self esteem hits hard, how do you fight back and regain your confidence?

The exercises in this article require awareness and a little time in order to mindfully connect with your best self. When you make this commitment to your higher self, anything is possible!

7 Exercises to Boost Your Self Esteem

Practice these 7 simple exercises to boost your self esteem when life gets you down. They’ll help put the spark back into your life!

1. Positive Affirmations and Self-Talk

You are your harshest critic, and nobody deserves to be their own bully! Here is how it works: When you hear the voice in your head tell you something unkind, acknowledge it. Say to it, “I hear your negative talk, but I refuse to accept it as true.”

Then, say an affirmation that contradicts the negative talk. By removing the negative self-talk and replacing it with something positive, you shift your entire view from the inside out.

2. Self-Care . . . AKA Treat Yo’self

Here it is, the ubiquitous buzz word for 2018: self-care. Self-care can be anything you need it to be. It can be a long, luxurious bubble bath, or a quick and effective shower that you have been putting off. You can get your nails done or prepare a healthy meal.

Put yourself first. What do you need today? That is self-care.

3. Eat Nutritious Food

What we put into our bodies is a huge factor in how our bodies feel, and that can directly impact your self esteem. Treat yourself to something tasty, but that’s also good for you! This doesn’t have to mean a salad or green smoothie. Simply becoming more mindful of our diet can provide empowerment. Maybe, if you know your body doesn’t cope well with dairy, this means that you simply choose a dairy free alternative for dessert.

4. Play the Part

If you want to feel good, sometimes it helps to look good. Get dolled up with your favorite outfit, or rock a feel-good ensemble to the gym. You can try a new hair or makeup routine, or even add a new mala or bracelet to your outfit. Choose something that looks and feels great on you.

You deserve to feel beautiful. Remember . . . this self esteem building exercise works even if you don’t leave the house!

5. Start a Gratitude Journal Practice

Another way to feel great is to feel grateful, and journaling is a fantastic way to record your gratefulness. Being reminded of all the things in your life that you are fortunate for can remind you how loved and wonderful you are. You can buy a gratitude journal, or just write down three things every morning that you are grateful for!

6. Be Kind to Others

When you see the good in others, you also see the good in yourself. So, look for a place to donate, volunteer locally, or simply care for your own friends, family, or pets in a kind way. Being kind to others definitely boosts your self esteem!

7. Get Moving

Another way to boost your self esteem is to get your blood flowing! This body of yours is carrying you through the experience of life. Take care of it and safely explore its limits. However you choose to move, become connected to the strength and power within you.

Remember These Exercises to Boost Your Self Esteem Anytime

These self esteem building exercises will help you connect with your strengths, confront your perceived weaknesses, and grow your gratitude for everything you are. When you practice these things, it is impossible to deny the greatness that is you.
