Two Inspiring Poems for Self-Love and Positivity

You are the Sun

Basic goodness
Simple warmth, love, kindness
always there
clouds may hide you
Every once in a while
They shall pass
As they always do
No shame, blame, judgement
Just a cloudy day
You don’t see Sun yell at Clouds, “Hey you! Get out of my way! You are blocking my beauty, my rays of power! MOVE DAMN IT!”
Sun waits
still in its true supremacy
and burns
And glows
and pauses
Patient power that withstands the test of time
The test of all kinds of conditions
There it is
Always above
It has its own schedule
No rush, hurry to fix, convert or alter
No race to make anything, or anyone, different
highest orb
Glowing in its essence
Just as we all are.
Be like the sun
no, more than that
BE the sun –
always present
sometimes on the other side of your world
sometimes private or blanketed
Safe
but always there
shining for someone, somewhere
always providing light.

Priceless Art

layers of marble
heavy, unformed
a vision lies beneath
slow chipping away with unwise tools
a false form emerged
jagged, sharp-edged, hurt
a change began
knowledge, growth, age
a tedious splintering
slow removal of cover that kept you from your splendor
always there, waiting to be seen
Yet, it was not time
those that came to you could not see beyond your stone
for your magnificence, creation, art that you truly are
remained hidden, cloaked by your own fear –
Fear of the beauty that is you
some may have glimpsed it,
yet what they held was not meant for your form.
Others, saw it from afar as they walked away
or kept their distance
by then it was late in the story
you both were on to the next matter
everything has its time
a true work of art cannot be rushed
until the painter feels beauty pour out of their hands
until notes are heard in the musician’s heart
until the sculptor places vision on clay
until the singer serenades and the dancer expresses with movement
until pen is placed on paper
nothing is ready.
Then, the time arrives
slowly, you unravel your essence to the world
your ability to soften, shine, be
rocks crumble and there you rise
an alabaster glory
shining with beauty, lines, curves
a smile at the corners of your delicate lips
love in your eyes that follow all those that approach
allowing them to be seen as they bask in your warmth.
Finally, it is time
and you will be known for what you have always been:
Priceless art.
