Here are nine ways to reduce your risk of breast cancer and improve your overall breast health:
 

1. Touch Your Boobies Regularly

Perhaps the most important thing that you can do for your breast health is perform self-exams. You need to get up close and personal with your boobies and know their size, shape, color and feel so you can identify if there are any changes or irregularities in the breast or nipple. 2. Set a Date with Your Doc

If you don’t have an annual appointment at your gynecologist for a women’s health exam, you are putting your breasts and your entire reproductive health at risk. 4. Eat Healthy

5. Limit Alcohol

Not to be a buzz kill – pun intended – but if you want to maintain your healthy pair, you should limit your consumption of alcohol. Alcohol changes the way estrogen works within your body, which can cause estrogen levels to rise within your body, which in turn increases your risk of breast cancer. 6. Choose Natural Skincare and Beauty Products

You can also take fish liver oil supplements or eat fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna and mackerel. Vitamin D is also found, in small amounts, in egg yolks, cheese and beef liver. 8. Wear a Sports Bra

Yes, you read that right! Traditional bras restrict blood flow and lymph flow from your armpit down and across your breast bone, which negatively affects your body’s ability to remove toxins. Many factors in the duration and fit can contribute to the body’s flow of lymphs, causing toxins to be trapped in your delicate breast tissue. An added plus is that sports bras are comfortable, supportive and make the girls feel great!
 

9. Chill Out

Stress is a major factor in a variety of health issues, including breast cancer. Turn to your yoga practice to reduce your stress levels and promote a restful night sleep. A good night’s sleep increases your melatonin levels, which is known to regulate estrogen in your body. Relax, shut down the electronics early, and commit to a good night’s sleep every night, in the name of your health!
 

You should be committed to your breasts’ health in October and throughout the entire year. These small steps can make a world of difference when it comes to the health of your girls, so be mindful of the food and drinks that you consume, the amount of sleep that you clock each night, your exercise and skin care regimen, and your consistency with your doctor and self exams. Don’t become a statistic and do what you can to decrease your risk of developing breast cancer before it’s too late. Arm yourself with knowledge to lead a healthy, happy life!
