4 Tips to Help You Live a Life of Gratitude

Do you want to live a life of gratitude? With Thanksgiving and the holiday season knocking on our door, it is more important now than ever to focus on your family, friends and all that you have to be grateful for.

Throughout the business and stresses of life during the holiday season, it can often be hard to remember just how much you have to be grateful for.

4 Tips to Help You Live a Life of Gratitude:

Use these four tips to inspire a life of gratitude this holiday season.

1. Keep a List

Eckhart Tolle once said, “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”

Everyone wants to feel fulfilled. Sometimes, the best way to do that is to realize just how much you have. Write down everything that you have to be grateful for.

On this list, include the simple things such as a roof over your head or running water, as well as the more unique aspects of your life including that great opportunity you may have recently been given or successes no matter how big or small.

Keep this list accessible and read it anytime you are feeling sad, down or in need of a dose of positivity. It will help you realize the abundance in your life and lift your spirits when you need it.

2. Be Present

Dredging up the past or stressing about the future? It’s easy to focus on the mistakes you’ve made or the possibilities that are to come. Try to spend some time in the here and now. Put down your phone, turn off your music, shut away all distractions and just be – present.

Appreciate the fact that you are currently breathing. Take a good look at the life you are living and what surrounds you in this very moment. Enjoy your time with friends and family.

It’s amazing what you might find that you are grateful for when you’re really focused on your surroundings and present in your life’s interactions.

3. Don’t Compare Yourself

How often do you flip through Instagram or Facebook and feel envious over the lives others are living? All you’re seeing is a snippet of what their life is like; you aren’t seeing the money troubles or relationship problems or the sickness.

They won’t put that status on Facebook! They are only showing the good, the parts that THEY are grateful for and that they want to share with the world.

If you want to live a life of gratitude, focus on your life. Yes! Rather than focusing on the positivity that others have in their lives, focus on your own good. What does your own life look like through social media?

Be grateful for those moments that you can share and that make you happy, whether it is some fuzzy slippers and a warm cup of tea in the evening or the love of your significant other.

4. Face Those Tough Times

It’s hard to feel grateful without also facing the tough times. If everything was hunky-dory all the time, what reason would you have to be grateful for anything?
