Are you a new yogi? Welcome to you new favorite addiction. There is so much to absorb from a yoga practice, it can be intimidating. We’re here for you and want to make sure you get the most out of your yoga practice.

I am a big believer in timing. I believe that somehow, someway, the right things come to us just when we need them. To me, Yoga is a journey that has presented itself to me at precisely the right time. After a month of practice, I am already enjoying how Yoga restores my mind, body and spirit.

If you, like me, are a new yogi, here are some insights to help as you begin your yoga journey, so you may get the most out of your yoga practice.

3 Ways to Get the Most of Our of Your Yoga Practice:

 

1. Consistency in your practice is key

You may very well feel refreshed and relaxed after your first Yoga class, but if you approach Yoga as just another workout, you may be tempted to dismiss it at the first sign of struggle. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself the first few weeks. Just take the time to practice at least once a day.

Remember, there is no competition. As long as you listen to your instructors and your body, you will be a-ok.
 

 
 

2. Be kind to yourself

Theodore Roosevelt once said, “comparison is the thief of joy”. This couldn’t be more true, especially when it comes to beginning your Yoga practice. It is so tempting to beat yourself up because you can’t get into crow pose like the super-fit athletic girl on the mat next to you.

There is no Yoga police. You aren’t being graded. This journey is all about self-love!
 

3. Embrace the change

Perhaps one of the most surprising benefits of Yoga is how it seeps into every area of your life. You may notice how you choose your words more carefully when interacting with loved ones. You may surprise yourself by your ability to choose healthier foods simply because they make you feel better.

Make the Most of Your Yoga Practice

Yoga makes you feel good! Your mind, body, and spirit are encouraging you to make healthier decisions in all facets of life because it helps you continue to feel peaceful. Don’t fight it (and you probably won’t), just fall in love with the changes within!
