Yoga Poses & Meditation for Cancer-Related Depression (Video Series)

This month, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, YouAligned™ has teamed up with Grokker.com to feature a 4-part video series called “Grit, Grace, and Gratitude” on yoga for cancer care. Please join us as we welcome Sierra Campbell, a yoga therapist and cancer survivor who offers helpful, compassionate guidance on your journey to cancer recovery using yoga. Sierra invites viewers to think of this practice as a way of tuning into – and gaining control over – your inner alchemy. In the name of Breast Cancer Awareness, and in the name of your health, let’s get started!

In this video, Sierra Campbell shares her own experience dealing with cancer, and offers her experiences as a guiding force and source of support through using yoga for cancer. You will explore supported yoga poses that help you find greater levels of relaxation, self-acceptance, and positivity overall. Using mindfulness techniques as well as slow, methodic restorative poses, Sierra invites you to let go of negative thoughts and feelings, and sink deeply into your yoga practice, knowing that the practice itself is promoting healing within your body.

Studies have shown a direct correlation between meditation and a decrease in depression. This video teaches you simple methods for beginning a meditation practice that augments your existing yoga practice for cancer. Starting with deep breathing and moving into poses before the final journaling exercise, you will begin to tap into a calmer and more tranquil state. Sierra ends by asking, “what can you do for you now?” She encourages you throughout your practice to tune in, listen to yourself, and honor what you need.
