The Best Yoga Studios in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Blending travel + yoga is a potent recipe for total mind and body renewal. Yoga in itself is a total mind/body renewal, but the added benefit of travel helps us fully reset and rejuvenate so we can come back feeling refreshed and re-inspired.

Traveling to the infamous Chiang Mai, Thailand to practice yoga? It doesn’t get much better than that. Chiang Mai is situated in Northern Thailand, renowned for its mountains.

Chiang Mai is fascinating, beautiful, unique, and the perfect place for a yoga getaway. The serenity of this district empowers you to leave your stresses behind, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape.

Chiang Mai is gaining global recognition for its yoga retreats and blossoming yoga community. Therefore, this city offers traveling yogis an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals since visitors from around the world gather here to find peace, explore the magical land, and of course . . . do yoga!

As someone who has had the pleasure of living in Chiang Mai since 2009, I’ve gotten quite familiar with the different yoga studios and offerings in this area.

Chiang Mai is fascinating, beautiful, unique, and the perfect place for a yoga getaway.

Here is a list of the most popular yoga studios in Chiang Mai that I recommend checking out while you’re here:

Yoga Kuukan

This yoga studio is situated in the north side of the city. “Yoga Kuukan” means “yoga space” in Japanese, and fittingly, this studio is situated in a traditional wooden house with beautiful hardwood floors, lots of plants, and a peaceful ambience. Classes include Restorative Yoga, Chi-Breathing, Tai Chi, and more.

Yoga Tree

This fun and funky yoga studio is situated on Arak Road in the southwest corner of the old city. The studio is aptly named for its lush setting amidst beautiful, serene green gardens. Yoga Tree offers a broad range of classes, from yoga and pilates to dance, meditation, retreats and teacher trainings.

Wild Rose Yoga

The Wild Rose Yoga studio can be found in the southern part of Chiang Mai. Expect unique class offerings here, from Lunar Flow to Ashtanga Fusion Vinyasa, Yin Yang Yoga, and more. Wild Rose also offers teacher training, and special events like “Yoga to Go” where you can practice yoga with them in the surrounding countryside.

Namo Yoga

This yoga studio is situated on the eastern side of Chiang Mai at Moon Muang. Namo Yoga is known not just for their daily yoga class offerings, but also for their yoga therapy, massage spa and Ayurveda courses. You can attend trainings for these offerings here too. My favorite features is that Namo Yoga keeps their class prices low to make them accessible to all.

Freedom Yoga

Freedom Yoga is a laid back, welcoming and charming yoga space situated in a renovated Thai-style studio. You can find daily yoga class offerings, in addition to regular workshops. Both classes and workshops are all-levels friendly. Stay after and enjoy a healthy and delicious meal from their garden cafe.
