How to Use Meditation to Reduce Financial Stress
Money is and has always been a major stressor. Often when we are stressed about our finances, meditation is the last thing on our mind. It is a select few of us that try to find a moment of peace amidst the chaos. For those of you that have tried such a strategy even in your dire situation, kudos, as you have realized the power of your mind and understand that meditation could possibly be the most valuable tool at this juncture.
Stress caused by money is actually an awareness of scarcity.
This feeling of scarcity is hidden in our subconscious. Meditation, if practiced correctly, is an effective strategy to deal with such stress. It can strengthen our thought process and enable us to direct and attract whatever money is naturally meant for us.
In order to understand the potential use of meditation as a stress reliever, we need to first comprehend how one perceives the world around them.
Those who have been on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment are familiar with the idea that the mind can be used as a tool to visualize and attract wealth and success. But what many fail to realize is that this same mind is also responsible for casting doubts on one’s abilities. In essence, you can use your mind to create stress, or you can choose to use your mind for something much more productive and self-serving.
One person may view their control over thoughts and positive thinking as a key to a peaceful and successful life; on the other hand, another person perceives the same universe or their surroundings as un-giving and unsafe. Therefore, it is the disbelief in one’s abilities that creates a scarcity in one’s life. Some may call this “rational thinking,” which is the very thought process that creates stress or prevents us from taking a risk.
We can prevent this mental buildup of scarcity by choosing to believe that the world is generous and that our luck is waiting to shine upon us at the next stop.
Haven’t we heard that blessings come in disguise?
Are we pushing those blessings away by remaining in doubt? So the next time we face a stressful situation, instead of fearing it and thinking ill of the universe, why not accept it and believe that everything will fall into place? Realize that your mind is actually blocking the abundance and wealth meant for you and instead, harness the power to create a successful life.
You can achieve this state by continuously practicing a simple meditative strategy, centered around trusting and letting go.

Start by relaxing. Close your eyes and allow your thoughts to wander.
Let the worrisome and fearful thoughts flow around. Pay close attention to them, like an inner voice. Slowly imagine yourself withdrawing from that voice of discontentment and instead identify yourself with everything around you. Consider the example of a movie theater. Initially, you are absorbed in the movie—you are one with the movie—but as you gain clarity and a deeper understanding, you will see that you are distancing yourself from the movie and becoming more aware of your surroundings, i.e. the seats, the people around you etc.
As you see everything around you more clearly, you will also notice that the sound of your inner dialogue has reduced to something that is blurry and far away. There seems to be some sort of interference between the two…
Shift your attention from your thoughts of worry to the space around you. Think of your surroundings as vibrant and aware of you. Perceive it all as a big ball of abundance that wants the best for you and is waiting to help you along your way to success. Imagine it sending you waves of positive energy, love and abundance from every possible direction. Immerse yourself and soak up this feeling of goodness. Be humbled, accept the energy, and send it back to the universe.
Now, bring your focus back to your negative thoughts, and you will notice how quiet they have become. You will realize how inconsequential your worries and fears are compared to the energy from the universe. Mentally compress these voices of uncertainty and lock them up in a box. Visualize that you are removing this box from your mind and placing it in the universe. Imagine the box being surrounded and attacked by the positivity until nothing remains of the negative.
Appreciate the goodness around you and be thankful that you have realized the presence of a higher power in which to place your worries. Continue practicing this technique to sustain its positive effects on your finances and all aspects of your life.
